not that this would ever be a surprise, but i can relate with Mitch. being unemployed and out of school until November, i have been trying to find ways to keep myself busy. last week, cupcakes. this week, cookies. they turned out tasting like a box recipe. but hey, baby steps. i'm making my way up to an apple pie. now check out these pictures of dessert i found from food blogs, which has become my other hobby. i'm getting real good at it.

when Jennifer prompted me to write a Top 5 list of celebrities i’m attracted to (hers included Conan O Brien, John Krasinski, and Hugh Jackman), i encouraged everyone else to write one too. Michelle was having trouble with her list and only came up with one person: Tuxedo Mask. yeah. from Sailor Moon… not exactly what i meant, however it did inspire me to write a new Top 5. Hottie Mc.Tottie CARTOONS, namsayin’?
1. first most obviously would have to be Trent from Daria. musician, philosopher, soft-spoken, and easy on the eyes. sure, he’s kind of a slacker but i’m sure he’s just trying to figure things out. or maybe he’s been waiting for me.
2. Aladdin is a close second. epitome of tall, dark, and handsome. actually, he looks sort of average height. we can replace that one with “constantly shirtless.”
3. Simba from The Lion King. what, did i go to far? or was this post not enough? i know you know.
4. Jughead from Archie Comics. after years of collecting these comics, i only have eyes for Jughead. he’s witty, confident enough to wear that stupid hat, and the drummer for The Archie’s. plus, i wont have to feel ashamed for always craving a burger from Pop Tate’s. he’s pretty much the perfect guy.
5. Dimitri from Anastasia. alright, i honestly don’t remember if i saw this movie, but he’s pretty cute. plus, John Cusack does his voice, and that’s reason enough.

INGREDIENTS 2 CUPS ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR 2 TABLESPOONS LOOSE EARL GREY TEA LEAVES OR 5-7 TEA BAGS 1/2 TEASPOON SALT 3/4 CUP CONFECTIONERS' SUGAR 1 TEASPOON PURE VANILLA EXTRACT 1 CUP (2 STICKS) BUTTER, ROOM TEMPERATURE DIRECTIONS IN A MEDIUM BOWL MIX THE FLOUR, TEA, AND SALT, UNTIL THE TEA IS JUST SPOTTED THROUGHOUT THE FLOUR. ADD THE CONFECTIONERS' SUGAR, VANILLA, AND BUTTER. MIX JUST UNTIL A DOUGH IS FORMED. PLACE DOUGH ON A SHEET OF PLASTIC WRAP, AND ROLL INTO A LOG, ABOUT 2 1/2-INCHES IN DIAMETER. TIGHTLY TWIST EACH END OF WRAP, AND CHILL IN REFRIGERATOR FOR 30 MINUTES. PREHEAT OVEN TO 375 DEGREES F. SLICE THE LOG INTO 1/3-INCH THICK DISKS. the other night i went to downtown Disney with Jennifer and Michelle, when heading back to the car we walked right past Justin Long (aka the mac guy). nobody saw him but me, but i knew it was him. we connected ~with our eyes.~ but our romance is not part of this story. the fact is, it seems, is that nobody is attracted to him in the slightest. why? “he’s such a goober.” well, i have to ask, what’s wrong with that? according to urban dictionary, a goober is “just a kindhearted, rather oblivious goofball. it's term of endearment really. it comes from the ancient scottish verb 'to goub,' which has to do with doing a dance and smiling sheepishly while doing so, exposing the goubs in one's teeth.” now, i’m not sure how accurate this definition is, but i still see nothing wrong with it. i’m not saying he’s the hottest guy in the world--if i still made lists, he wouldn’t even make the top ten--but now i feel the need to defend him. many women are attracted to “goobers” because they have better personalities than an above-average joe. how else would you explain the obsession with Michael Cera, Jason Schwartzman, or even Paul Rudd? 14 year old girls swoon over Joe Jonas, but once he acts like a goob, he can even win the attraction of a hottie-mc.tottie college girl. so, show me a goober and i'll, uh...show you, uh, that he's the best. or fine.. or whatever.

it's doubtful that you are one. well, i was going to say that--just like everybody thinks they suffer from depression, adhd, or obesity (oh wait..). but come to think of it, after reading about the symptoms, every teenager i know has insomnia: Insomnia is a symptom of a sleeping disorder characterized by persistent difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep despite the opportunity. It is typically followed by functional impairment while awake. Insomniacs have been known to complain about being unable to close their eyes or "rest their mind" for more than a few minutes at a time. Both organic and non-organic insomnia constitute a sleep disorder have been known to complain? i really have trouble calling this a disorder. also, Insomnia occurs 1.4 times more commonly in women than in men. god. girls are annoying. i'm going to bed.

other than being a film director, actress, producer and Academy Award-winning screenwriter; Sophia Coppola is also my inspiration for my girl crush post. wooo! she's the daughter of set decorator/artist Eleanor (née Neil) and director Francis Ford Coppola, granddaughter of the late composer Carmine Coppola, sister of Roman Coppola and the late Gian-Carlo Coppola, niece of Talia Shire and a cousin of Nicolas Cage, Jason Schwartzman and Robert Carmine. kay, so i don't know who some of those people are, but it seems inevitable that she'd become famous too. and though my dad always gets mad that daughters or sons of famous actors can become famous too although they have no acting talent, i think Coppola has found success based on merit. i'm watching Lost in Translation for the second time this week and it really has the perfect combination of humor, aesthetics, and emotion. her soundtracks and imagery are always incredible. and so is... her style! she interned with Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel when she was in high school. and she modeled for Marc Jacobs. i guess he also named some bag after her.. anyway. she knows what she's doing. U GO GRL!~

who’s going to the TREASURE ISLAND MUSIC FESTIVAL? everyone go!! well, how about just the second day, since that’s the day i’m goin’. the only band i’d be interested in seeing on the first day is the Foals anyway. we’re supposed to be excited for Justice, Hot Chip, and TV on the Radio (though all but one of their songs are boooring—shhh, don’t tell Cami i said that!) but i don’t really care. mostly, i’m excited for TOKYO POLICE CLUB!! i mean, where have i been? it’s not that i recently discovered them, but it took me a while to realize how much i liked them. they’re canadian. their music is fun. AND they’re cute enough to be on Misha’s “BF list.” (check my facebook album to see what i’m talkin’ about). also, if you haven’t already heard, Vampire Weekend’s gonna be there. Read dis. not to mention, Tegan & Sara, the Dodos, and the Raconteurs. DL some of my favorite songs by the artists playing on the second day of TIMF. then GO (to the festival… not away from this page)

i don't think the transitions in this album were quite as consistent as in Night Ripper. but there are some more “old school” songs on the album. i mean, it's okay. maybe it just doesn't compare to the memories we made with NR. like singing a cappella to hold up and too deep while waiting in line at rickshaw. but we'll see. sophomore year didn't start yet...

i never know what to think about using the idea of simplicity in an artistic or creative matter. in a way, i really don’t like it – i mean, it’s just that. it’s too simple. and then it becomes boring. a perfect example of this, in my opinion, would be Thoreau's Walden. i can describe my feelings of this book in 9 letters: pointless. or maybe just Zzzzzzzzz. that’s a lot of z’s…
so, this guy goes out in the woods and documents his experience. then it becomes one of the most well-known pieces of American literature. but who couldn’t do that?
then again, if an idea is never expressed, it doesn’t matter that anyone could have come up with it. not to mention, the simple things in life constantly go unnoticed but are usually the highlights of our days. i really like this guy's site and his interpretations.
also, i don't really know much about her work (hopefully this will be changing soon) but Miranda July has a unique way of executing her ideas.
